About Dr. Terry
Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Dr. Terrence Thomas, and I am the owner of Ellicott Chiropractic Care.
I was raised in southwest Connecticut in what was then a small town called Southbury. As a youth, I had a competitive, active lifestyle that lasted twelve months a year. I played football, basketball, and baseball, as well as competitive ski racing, bike racing, and running. I was also an avid small and big game hunter, a fisherman, and overall outdoorsman. In addition, I grew up raising horses for both competition and leisure.
In the early 1990s, I moved to the Midwest to attend college at Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, CO. While attending college there I studied biopsychology (a precursor to neuroscience) and worked part-time at a local hardware store, my low back began to demonstrate significant pain. My boss noticed my pain and told me that he could see me “losing productivity” at work. He offered to pay for my first $100 of chiropractic care at a local chiropractor of my choosing. I thought chiropractors were “quacks,” but hey, it was free and I was in pain.
My initial experience with chiropractic care couldn’t have been better! The doc did a thorough exam and then took the time to explain to me what was wrong with my body. I noticed an immediate difference following the first adjustment. After a few visits, my pain subsided, my physical ability to move increased, and my productivity at work improved. Chiropractic helped my weekly stressors to be less mentally intense, my attitude to improve, and my pain levels to decrease.
While at WSC, I also met a young lady named Michelle, whom I became very fond of as the years passed. We were married after graduation and gave birth to a baby boy. Now I had a young family to support so I quickly took a “temporary” position with a local landscape management firm in Colorado Springs. As the firm rapidly grew, I learned a lot and grew along with it. I progressed with the company until the temporary position became a foreman position for large-scale home and commercial installation projects. I stayed with this for seven years and was content.
Eventually, my active lifestyle caught up with me and I began to be overtaken by low back pain. I truly believe my fast-paced childhood, numerous injuries (I was given the nickname “Road-rash” by some teammates), and type of work led to other issues as I was aging.
Since I had received such amazing results with chiropractic care, I became inspired to help others the same way I had been helped, on multiple occasions since that first treatment. We packed up our family and house and moved to New York where I attended New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls.
My chiropractic education was very extensive, thorough, and enlightening. While in school, my wife and I were able to increase our chiropractic care. Although we were originally told we could not have more children, we gave birth two more times.
I now have three beautiful children ages 28, 19, and 17. The younger two are much like their dad as they are growing and do not have a lot of fear nor much respect for their bodies. You can bet they get regular check-ups by “Dr. Dad!”
After practicing in upstate NY for 8 years, we decided to move to Colorado as my wife was raised in Falcon. Now residing in Ellicott, and working in multiple places in Colorado Springs, I have opened a full-time home office in Ellicott.
I am extremely passionate about chiropractic care and am very excited to share this passion with others. I take great pride in helping young children grow to be all they can be and the elderly to maintain a fulfilling quality of life. Everyone needs help in achieving their maximum potential. I enjoy providing such a service and helping those who want it to maintain a better quality of well-being and life fulfillment.
I would be happy to meet with anyone having questions about chiropractic care or who does not feel they are functioning at 100%. I can be reached via text or call at (719) 322-2856 to schedule an appointment. You will be glad you did.
Yours in Health,
Dr. Terrence Thomas
